Compose your own music by editing scores or guitar tabs.
If you
play the guitar and you like to compose,
TuxGuitar is really going to come in handy to you because unlike other similar applications, it is
free and open source. The application will let you
edit scores and guitar tablatures.
The application works in Java and uses the SWT graphic library, allowing the user to operate with
multiple tracks at the same time, time signature management, work with
triplets and and it has various sounds.
The applications initial idea is to be the small
free brother of GuitarPro, so it is compatible with the following formats:
GTP, GP3, GP4, GP5 and PTB, as well as its own format TG, so if you have files created with
GuitarPro or PowerTab you won't have any of the open and edit them without problems, something that we will have to take into account, because they are the most used in professional environments.
As any good audio software application, it allows to import
MIDI files and export to
MIDI, PDF (the scores) and
ASCII, so printing and sharing our scores won't have any problem.
Requirements: You have to have Java 1.5 or later installed for this application to work.
